Fishman AFX Pro EQ Mini Acoustic Guitar Preamp & EQ Pedal

PERFECT ACOUSTIC EQ CONTROL IN ONE COMPACT PEDAL

Based on the highly-regarded Fishman Platinum series of instrument preamps, AFX Pro EQ Mini offers quality preamplification and critical equalization voiced specifically for acoustic instruments.

This is no off-the-shelf graphic EQ – plug in and your signal begins with a high-impedance instrument preamp to condition nearly any passive or active pickup. Then, use the four bands of acoustic tone control to sculpt your bass, mids, treble, and brilliance. A sweepable Low Cut fine-tunes the very low frequencies to reduce or enhance thumps and subs. Finally, hold the footswitch to toggle your output polarity. Also known as “phase,” this simple circuit can tame low-frequency howl very effectively.

AUDIO PATH SWITCH

AFX Minis allow you to choose the audio path on which a particular effect will be processed. You do this by flipping the Audio Path switch on the front of the pedal.

TRUE BYPASS

With true bypass, the pedal’s electronics are literally removed from the signal chain. For those who prefer a buffered bypass, AFX Mini effect pedals are switchable.

DC POWER

In order to pack a lot of functionality into the smallest stompbox size we could find, AFX Minis require external power. Be sure to use a Fishman 910-R(120VAC) or 910-U(230VAC) power adapter to ensure the above specs.

FOOTSWITCH MUTE

Like other AFX Minis, press the footswitch to bypass the effect. AFX Pro EQ Mini also lets you choose to mute your audio instead of bypass. Hold the footswitch while applying power and the LED will flash to indicate the mode has changed.

SETTING LEVELS

Unlike conventional guitar stompboxes, AFX Pro EQ Mini features an analog preamp that provides up to 20dB of quality gain and impedance matching for most passive, active, and magnetic acoustic instrument pickups.

PHASE INVERT

Signal polarity – often referred to as Phase – changes the pickups relationship to the sound coming from the amplifier. Inverting Phase can reduce feedback. With low volume playing, it can improve the intensity of low frequencies you hear.

What Merwin Thought Represented Him Best
Format: Paperback
If one volume could sum up adequately W.S. Merwin's artistic development and illustrate his place in American literature with some justice, "Migration" does the job. At least as importantly, it gives us the poet's own opinion on the poems for which he might want to be remembered, much as Nathaniel Tarn inspired Pablo Neruda to do in the selection of Neruda's poems that Tarn oversaw. I bought "Migration" at roughly the same time as and and cross-referenced his selection from those titles in "Migration" against the whole. While I still have one or two favorites that did not make the cut, I found the choices he made consistently better-inspired and more timeless than the poems that surrounded them (though overall Merwin has remained a consistent and astonishingly fine craftsman throughout his career). For those who want to go further back than Merwin's more recent books for Copper Canyon Press should not be disappointed.

ws merwin's collected poems
Format: Hardcover
it's a hardback and it's in great condition. apparently it's a library book that has been in more than one sale, at one point someone had put a price of fifty cents on it. it's sad that arguably one of the better modern writers did not find a permanent home but that meant a great deal for me. also, i hope the reason the book started its journey wasn't because the library folded but that might explain why the book left the shelves to begin with.

Better than Expected
Format: Paperback
Though the title impied there were new poems in this volume, I found some of my favorites, but didn't notice any new ones. Never mind, they are wonderful, and I liked this book so much, I purchased a copy for a friend and published poet, who's poet in the schools, Grace Grafton, who is familiar with Merwin's writing. That made both of us happy. On a practical level, it is easier to schlep a single volume with you than three of four, when what you want is 'La crême de la crême.' Makes a welcome addition to any collection, a great gift to introduce Merwin, and a pleasure to read the smooth, ariculate poetry that is food for the soul. Antoinette Constable
